"The progression of brutality the dehumanizing the inhumanity that is slavery couldn't have been realized without the absolute breakdown of so called good people. The ones who know it's wrong but to scared to anything. The sadistic training the laws passed people giving up their children without a fight getting comfortable with others pain and suffering it made me angry and sad. This book ends in a cliffhanger so you just waiting on Calabs pain and sacrifice to mean something."

- OMG words cannot describe this book. It is amazing, heartbreaking, frustrating, and just amazing. As a decent human being and an African- American I genuinely do not like stories where we have actual slavery, because if I wanted to read about that I could just look at any historical books and hear stories about my ancestors. Now it took me a while to get through this book, but I did and the last 5 chapters are amazing. I want more. This book end on a cliffhanger, and I'm just acking for more. Sadly there is not "About the author" page because I have so many questions.
One thing I thought was funny (not in a haha funny way but more of a haha that's so sad and ironic) was how the discovery of the dominate and submissive genes are placed before the abolition movement, and right for women to vote, and of course the Civil Rights Movement. So before the turning point in America and other countries where slavery wasn't "social okay". Propers for the writer there. - The progression of brutality the dehumanizing the inhumanity that is slavery couldn't have been realized without the absolute breakdown of so called good people. The ones who know it's wrong but to scared to anything. The sadistic training the laws passed people giving up their children without a fight getting comfortable with others pain and suffering it made me angry and sad. This book ends in a cliffhanger so you just waiting on Calabs pain and sacrifice to mean something.
- I was pulled in from the start. Thankfully young enough to not have any real ties to what living in this world would be like.. I would hope to have been someone as caring as Nathaniel or as Brave as Caleb. I look forward to book 2 and hope it comes out soon !!!!
