Paint by Sticker Travel celebrates a time when elegant posters, in an Art Deco style, beckoned visitors to faraway romantic places—from Venice, with its canals and gondolas, to Cairo, gateway to the pyramids—all through the absorbing activity of painting by sticker.

Paint by Sticker is a compelling new activity for crafters and artists, doodlers and coloring book enthusiasts of all ages. As in paint-by-number, each template is divided into dozens of spaces, each with a number that corresponds to a particular sticker. Find the sticker, peel it, place it. And then the next, and the next, and the next, until your “poster” comes to life.

Paint by Sticker Travel includes everything you need to create twelve vibrant, nostalgic travel posters—the stickers, the templates, the intuitive directions. The works include Moscow, home of St. Basil’s Cathedral and its candy-colored onion domes. India and the Taj Mahal, crown jewel in a world of fascinating destinations. Bermuda. Monaco. Japan and its cherry blossoms and pagodas.

Bon voyage!

"I saw this item in the store, and thought it was a novel idea, so I got it. Its actually quite clever. Each picture has numbered shapes that match with stickers in the back of the book. Just peel and stick. Its part coloring book, part jigsaw puzzle. I saw from other reviews that people were having problems removing the stickers, this want an issue for me because I used a hobby knife to pick the stickers off the sheet and place them on the picture. This works a lot better than your fingers, as you can see exactly where they are going. The trick is to place the stickers in the middle of the shape, even if it doesn't fill it in all the way. There is enough bleed on the other stickers that will cover the gaps up. Its also important to try turning the stickers different ways to see how they fit best. The windmill picture didn't come out very good because I think I put some of the stickers on upside down, which is easy to do when they are symmetrical. Overall, Im having lots of fun with this book and I plan to try out the "masterpieces" one soon!"

Paint by Sticker Travel Recreate 12 Vintage Posters One Sticker at a Time! Workman Publishing 9780761193630 Books Reviews

  • I really enjoy this book series. I have purchased three so far, and each one is unique in it's own special way. It is very relaxing to simply peel and stick and see a colorful picture emerge before your eyes. The book is very sturdy, so you do not need anything hard to press down on (I often do it in my lap), and the pages (stickers and images) are all perforated, and very easy to remove. I've never had a page rip while tearing it out.

I did have to deduct one star because occasionally the stickers are difficult to remove as some of the cuts are not complete, causing the sticker to rip (see attached photo for example). But I did find a good solution. If you have an exacto knife, or even a sharp box cutter, just run it lightly along the edges of the problematic stickers, and they will pop right out. Just be careful not to cut your fingers!
  • I now have all 3 of these books. I absolutely love them. Coloring has become difficult for me due to tendonitis. I've read some reviews saying the stickers aren't cut good and don't stick good. I haven't had either of these issues. Sometimes 1 of the corners seem like it's not cut all the way, but if you just remove it slowly it comes off with no problem. Lots of fun and very entertaining.
  • I am normally a huge fan of these books. I had no issues with the original or Masterpieces, but this edition made me rethink putting their next book on my wish list. First, the stickers weren't the same quality. I had zero issues with the first two books, but these stickers tore easily and some even peeled off without the sticky part. It was also really easy to scratch off the color. Secondly, the amount of errors in my edition sort of ruined the experience. Holland has a mislabeled sticker that couldn't be solved until the end of the puzzle (the sticker labeled clearly doesn't fit in the space) but at least that mistake left you with a completed image. However, the Taj Mahal AND Moscow had duplicate labels, meaning each image was left with a white space and no sticker. My suggestion is to wait for a later printing so those issues can be resolved.

  • Absolutely love these sticker books. Nice pastime for adults when you actually get a moment to sit. They make a few different versions and they're all good. Very detailed.
  • I'm working on pictures in another book of this series, so I know I enjoy doing "Paint by Sticker." You have to be careful, however, stickers not removable. I'm a little nervous about this one I've just received, the Vintage Travel posters. Has a lot of very little pieces. I've learned that the fewer times you handle and reposition the stickers, the better. The max is 3 lifts and put back down, before edges start looking bad. The rectangles can be hard to tell which direction to put them down. Suggestion use tracing paper to trace the space where you want to add the next sticker. Lay the tracing over the appropriate numbered sticker before you take it off the backing. You will be able to tell which way to lay it down on picture, & how best to position it on the picture to fill the space before you make a mistake.. Worth the effort - the pictures are beautiful when done.
  • I'm halfway through the book and this one is not nearly as good as the other books. The cut on these stickers is slightly off, there are some duplicate numbers and Monaco is left with a hole. I will finish the book because I find it relaxing but am disappointed in this edition.
  • My high school aged daughter and her friends LOVE these books. I don't see the appeal but they really, really enjoy them. They will sit there and do them while chatting with each other. She said it's a very satisfying, mindless, creative thing to do to keep your hands busy. These were gifts for her and then she gave some to her friends so that fact that they love them is all that matters.
