As a lifelong student of Scripture, Kathie Lee Gifford has always desired a deeper understanding of God’s Word and a deeper knowledge of God Himself. But it wasn’t until she began studying the biblical texts in their original Hebrew and Greek—along with actually hiking the ancient paths of Israel—that she found the fulfillment of those desires.

Now you can walk with Kathie on a journey through the spiritual foundations of her faith

  • The Rock (Jesus Christ) Hear directly from Kathie about her life-changing and ever-deepening connection with Jesus, the Lover of her soul.
  • The Road (Israel) Explore dozens of ancient landmarks and historical sites from Israel, the promised land of God’s covenant.
  • The Rabbi (God’s Word) Go beyond a Sunday-school approach to the Bible by digging into the original languages and deeper meanings of the Holy Scriptures.

As you journey through The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi, you’ll also find additional content from Messianic Rabbi Jason Sobel throughout the book. Jason’s insight into the Hebrew language, culture, and heritage will open your eyes to the Bible like never before.

Come! Begin your journey toward a deeper faith through The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi.

The Rock the Road and the Rabbi My Journey into the Heart of Scriptural Faith and the Land Where It All Began Kathie Lee Gifford Rabbi Jason Sobel 9780785222231 Books Reviews

  • I started reading this book with some skepticism. Just how theologically knowledgeable could Kathie Lee be? After hearing her testimony on The Today Show following her husband Frank’s & Billy Graham’s deaths, I was anxious to hear more from her. More than “religion” she speaks of a personalrelationship with Jesus Christ. It was touching, heartwarming. chill inducing, & informative all at the same time. I enjoyed it, learned from it & recommend it.
  • I ordered this book because I admire Kathie Lee Gifford; however, this book far exceeded my expectations. It is a combination of a travelogue, Scripture, lessons learned, history, Hebrew culture and so much more written in a very easy to read method. I am an adult Bible teacher and will use it often like a commentary, when I am preparing a lesson. I recommend this book for anyone to read, no matter the background or experience with the compelling story of Jesus. I have been to Israel twice and I found that it was a wonderful remembrance of my personal experiences there and sifted out the distractions of buildings, shrines and crowds, to bring you back to the moment and memory of what has remained outstanding of my own trip.
I will recommend this book to those who are planning a trip in 2018. I would easily recommend this book to those who yearn to go to Israel, but may not be able to go due to frailty of health or financial concerns.
Thank you, Kathie Lee Gifford, for pouring your heart into this book.
  • This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

What a thought provoking book! I enjoyed reading along as Kathie Lee and other taught about different stops on their tour of the Holy Land.

Some things were a reinforcement of teaching that I had previously learned but there were a few things that were new and unexpected!

The chapter that I enjoyed the most was discussing the birth of Jesus and the significance of his birth in a cave. I had no idea that the shepherds that we always read about were actually shepherds that raised the lambs for sacrifice, and that the caves these lambs were born in was the same as the perfect Lamb of God was born.

I enjoyed the personal comments from Kathie Lee and loved the chapter with her brother's teaching. The final part was a good way to encourage us to think about where we would throw our stone.

So many good things to say about this book that I couldn't fit it all in so I will just say that I think the book is well worth reading and will give you encouragement as well as prod you to move!
  • Excellent read! I’d recommend it to anyone heading over (or hoping to head over) to Israel. It’s also a great refreshed for those who have been there. A lot of very interesting perspectives from the rabbi! Easy, quick read, but filled with wonderful information. It’s a book I’ll be reading again and again.
  • Look, this is no "War and Peace." But it did help me with the inner war and help me with gaining some inner peace!

I probably would have liked this book and positively reviewed it at any time in my life. But it comes at a time when it was needed (if not sorely so, at least quite a bit).

Kathie Lee really comes through throughout the book (especially in the last chapters). If you're not a fan you're probably going to come to this book already having one strike against it. But if you like Kathie Lee I think it's safe to say you're going to love this book. (Full disclosure I am a huge Kathie Lee fan and have been so since her first appearances (as Kathie Lee Johnson) with Regis Philbin when their little-known, but well-received morning show (in the New York area) went into national syndication in the mid-1980s. And yup, I'm a guy!)

The book is rather slim, but you get your money's worth. Best, I think, to think of this book as either a mini-devotional or an hors d'oeuvre (i.e., something to whet one's appetite to study more and deeper). For me, it was both; not only does it dovetail nicely with Dr. Michael Heiser's works it also prompted me to finally purchase a copy of the Tree of Life (TLV) translation of the Bible (as well as a Jewish Study Bible).

Thank you, Kathie Lee, for sharing the journey. Thank you for helping me with mine!

5 stars (wished it could have been more).
  • Kathie Lee and rabbi Jason relates the stories in a great inspirational way.
  • Loved this book! I love learning new Hebrew and Greek interpretations about the Bible. I don’t think Christians can fully understand the Bible without learning Jewish history and the correct interpretations of the Hebrew language. Our culture in America has watered down the interpretations and The truth of God’s Word. I’m thankful for our Jewish history because I can understand Old Testament writings better. I’m not a scholar or theologian and only knew Baptist doctrine of the Bible. It wasn’t until a few years ago that The Lord taught me how important the Jewish are and how we are to bless them. Thank You Kathy Lee and Rabbi for adding to my wisdom about The Bible! It’s Life not just a Book!
  • God has given Kathie Lee a gift of knowledge to share with the world! A true page turner. Awesome book!
